Application Scenarios
1. General Fluid Supply
JIS K 6741 PVC-U Pipe is suitable for transporting various compatible fluids in residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial systems. VP pipe provides higher pressure capability, while VU pipe is suitable for lower-pressure or gravity-flow applications.
2. Cold Water Distribution
VP PVC-U Pipe can be used for suitable cold-water distribution systems where applicable standards, certifications, and local requirements are met. Its smooth inner surface helps maintain efficient water flow, while its corrosion-resistant construction provides reliable long-term performance.
3. Agricultural Irrigation
JIS K 6741 PVC-U Pipe can be used in agricultural irrigation and water conveyance systems. VP pipe is suitable for compatible pressure irrigation applications, while VU pipe can be used for lower-pressure or gravity-flow water conveyance where appropriate.
4. Drainage and Wastewater
VU PVC-U Pipe is suitable for drainage and wastewater applications where non-pressure or low-pressure flow is required. Its smooth bore promotes efficient drainage, while its resistance to corrosion and moisture makes it suitable for underground and above-ground drainage systems.
5. Industrial Fluid Piping
JIS K 6741 PVC-U Pipe can be used for compatible industrial fluids, process water, and other chemical-resistant piping applications within the applicable pressure, temperature, and chemical limits of PVC-U. Its lightweight construction can also simplify handling and installation.

Key Advantages of UPVC Pipes
1. Lightweight
Unit weight is only 1/6 that of cast iron pipes, facilitating easy handling and transport.
UPVC density: 1,350–1,550 kg/m³ vs. ductile iron: ~7,050 kg/m³. A DN400 UPVC pipe requires only 4 workers for transport and installation, with each joint completed in ~10 minutes. Ductile iron pipe (Class K9) of the same diameter is virtually uninstallable without heavy machinery—particularly advantageous in rugged terrain or remote areas. Transport costs reduced by 50–66%.
2. Low Flow Resistance
Smooth inner wall prevents scaling; friction loss is over 30% lower than cast iron pipes.
Roughness coefficient: n=0.009, substantially lower than metallic pipes. Under identical diameter and flow conditions, head loss per unit length is significantly reduced, lowering pump head requirements and energy consumption. Flow capacity increased by 30% compared with cast iron pipes of the same diameter.
3. High Mechanical Strength
Excellent pressure rating, impact resistance, and tensile strength. Low modulus of elasticity provides superior seismic performance.
As a flexible pipe, the low modulus also dampens water hammer and pressure surge effects. Widely applied in pressure classes ranging from 0.2 to 2.5 MPa.
4. Corrosion Resistance
Outstanding resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and chemicals; unaffected by moisture or soil pH.
No anti-corrosion coating required. Maintenance costs are only 30% of cast iron pipes. Ideal for industrial wastewater discharge and highly corrosive environments such as seawater aquaculture.
5. Easy Installation
Flexible EPDM rubber ring joints or solvent cement joints enable rapid assembly.
Correctly installed joints are leak-proof. Systems can be commissioned immediately upon successful pressure testing, significantly shortening construction schedules.
6. Long Service Life
Designed service life of 50+ years under normal operating pressure.
Excellent aging resistance, immune to bacterial and biological attack, ensuring long-term, reliable water transmission.
7. Non-Toxic and Hygienic
Manufactured with lead-free, environmentally friendly calcium-zinc stabilizers, fully compliant with national drinking water hygiene standards.
UPVC is nutritionally inert to microorganisms. The smooth bore inhibits sludge accumulation and tuberculation, preventing secondary contamination. Jianlong UPVC pipes have achieved full lead-free production.
8. Cost-Effective
Lower material, transport, and installation costs, combined with extended service life, deliver significant economic benefits.
Total project costs are 30–40% lower than cast iron systems. Maintenance costs are only 30% of cast iron, and labor costs are substantially reduced.

FAQ
1.Do UPVC pipes buried underground require anti-corrosion treatment?
UPVC pipes offer excellent chemical corrosion resistance and are unaffected by moisture or soil pH levels, thus requiring no anti-corrosion treatment. However, care must be taken to remove stones from the trench bottom and lay a sand bed of at least 15 cm before pipe installation to prevent damage from sharp objects.
2.What is the service life of UPVC water supply pipes?
Under normal operating pressure and applicable temperature ranges, the design service life is 50 years. Actual service life may vary depending on installation quality, operating pressure, temperature, and other factors.
3.What are the main causes of leakage in solvent cement joints?
Inferior or expired cementing materials
Improperly cleaned joint surfaces (presence of moisture, oil, or dust)
Uneven or insufficient application of solvent cement
Failure to chamfer the pipe spigot end
Incomplete insertion — spigot not pushed to the bottom mark
Moving the pipe before adequate curing time
Construction at excessively low temperatures (below -10°C is not recommended)
4.What should be noted regarding trenching and backfilling?
Stones at the trench bottom must be removed and a sand bed of at least 15 cm laid before pipe installation. Pipes must not be laid directly on rocks.
During backfilling, large bricks or stones must not be thrown directly onto the pipes.
Backfill material should be compacted in accordance with specifications.
